*A senior United Nations official who deals directly with Syrian affairs has told Al-Akhbar that the Syrian government had no involvement in the alleged Ghouta chemical weapons attack: “Of course not, he (President Bashar al-Assad) would be committing suicide.”

When asked who he believed was responsible for the use of chemical munitions in Ghouta, the UN official, who would not permit disclosure of his identity, said: “Saudi intelligence was behind the attacks and unfortunately nobody will dare say that.”

Egyptian authorities have shut down the headquarters of Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice newspaper in Cairo.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says the Group of 77 (G-77) and the Non-aligned Movement (NAM) can contribute significantly to international equations.

Iranian president addresses UN general assembly and says the world is 'tired of war' and US should not threaten force in Syria. “The basic rights of the Palestinians are tragically violated, and they are deprived of the right of return and access to their homes, birthplace and homeland.”

Israeli Minister ‘Distraught’ that Rouhani Charm Offensive Has Been Effective: “I’m more than worried. I’m distraught, ” said Home Front Defense and Communications Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud),  a member of Israel’s key decision-making security cabinet. “Rouhani’s language is having its effect.”

Israeli boycott of Rouhani UN speech 'a mistake',  says finance minister, Yair Lapid attacks PM Binyamin Netanyahu's instruction to Israeli delegation to leave during Iranian president's address

"The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) welcomed Rouhani’s departure from the anti-Semitic ramblings of his predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but criticized his lack of sincerity about Iran’s nuclear program."
