Chomsky: No Evidence al-Qaeda Did 9/11

Chomsky: US-led Afghan war,  criminal

Renowned Jewish-American scholar Noam Chomsky says US invasion of Afghanistan was illegal since to date there is no evidence that al-Qaeda has carried out the 9/11 attacks.

"The explicit and declared motive of the [Afghanistan] war was to compel the Taliban to turn over to the United States, the people who they accused of having been involved in World Trade Center and Pentagon terrorist acts. The Taliban…they requested evidence…and the Bush administration refused to provide any," the 81-year-old senior academic made the remarks on Press TV's program a Simple Question.

"We later discovered one of the reasons why they did not bring evidence: they did not have any."

Has Noam Chomsky gone sane?

Chomsky spent the first nine years after 9/11 alternately ignoring and attacking the 9/11 truth movement. Had he instead chosen to champion 9/11 truth, and had the rest of the left joined him as it surely would have, more than one million murdered people would be alive today, and tens of millions would not have had their lives ruined.

Now Chomsky is stating the obvious: There is no evidence whatsoever supporting the official version of 9/11. None.

Is this the same Chomsky who wrote two years ago:

Let's suppose it turns out that the WTC was destroyed by a controlled demolition.  Then who would the finger point to?  Osama bin Laden, obviously. (source)

Did Chomsky really think Osama Bin Laden could have engineered not only the most sophisticated controlled demolitions of the tallest buildings ever taken down, but would have disguised and covered up those demolitions (through his control of such federal agencies as NIST, FEMA, and the FBI)?   Statements like these led me to believe that Chomsky is either insane or not acting in good faith.

Is he returning to sanity? Finally deciding to act in good faith? Or just making a belated attempt to cover his ass for the history books?
